Kennedy Space Center (KSC) is the planet’s premier launch complex for sending humans and payloads into space. Dating back to the 1960’s, this central Florida site on the Atlantic Ocean has been the launching off point for astronauts of the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and Space Shuttle Programs. KSC’s future human spaceflight manifest includes launching the Orion Spacecraft on the Space Launch System, and Commercial Crew vehicles transporting astronauts to the International Space Station.
Decades of putting people into space has yielded unmatched capability when it comes to human spacecraft operations, including integrated testing, servicing, maintenance, launch and recovery. This experienced KSC team provides the expertise and resources needed to prepare crews for launch, and to develop, process and maintain crew support systems, crew egress/ingress procedures and systems, and safety and training programs.
In addition, KSC is home to multi-disciplinary life science laboratories engaged in developing, evaluating and maturing technologies for air revitalization, water recovery, food production and solid waste management for advanced exploration systems and next generation life support.
